The company

From guard company to security and technology company

Calidad Services does not push the same hybrid model onto every account. Using TrackTik alongside its Immix and Scylla integrations, the company builds the right combination of people and technology for each client, then uses the data to prove it out.

Calidad started as a physical security guard company. Eight years later it operates as a full security and technology company built around four business units. That growth reflects the company mission: protect what matters most through people and technology. A 75-person team now serves commercial properties, municipalities, construction sites, nonprofits and high-net-worth residential clients across California, a footprint built almost entirely through word of mouth.

Mobile surveillance unit

Deployable units covering ground that fixed posts cannot.

Systems installation

In-house design, installation and integration of security systems.

The challenge

Before TrackTik, Calidad ran security operations on paper

CEO Blake Smallie and his team went looking for a platform built specifically for security operations, one that could centralize their data and close a core accountability gap: confirming that officers were actually completing their tours, tracks and checkpoints as scheduled.

01

Handwritten daily reports

Officers filled out daily activity reports by hand, and those reports lived in folders.

02

Schedules in spreadsheets

Shift scheduling was tracked manually across spreadsheets.

03

Line-of-sight blind spots

On larger properties officers could only see their own line of sight, so activity on the far side of a site could easily go unnoticed.

The solution

An operational model built around the platform

Calidad piloted TrackTik about seven years ago and built its operational model around the platform from there. The team mapped out sites and zones, then began running incident analytics to track what was happening, where and how often.

Calidad handles all incident reporting for its security operations center directly in TrackTik rather than through separate video monitoring software, a setup the company believes makes it the only SOC in the country managing incidents this way.

TrackTik now supports scheduling, billing and invoicing, and client portal access, giving clients direct visibility into the incident data and reporting they need for board meetings and site reviews.

We have all four layers of security inside of our team, and it really helps us combine people, software, AI, virtual guarding, automation and data into one ecosystem.

Integrations

Two integrations that size the mix to each client

Two integrations are what let Calidad size the mix of people and technology to each client, rather than defaulting to one standard setup.

Alarms, video and access control

Immix

Calidad connects TrackTik to Immix to bring alarms, video, access control and patrol activity into one command view instead of several disconnected systems.

That closed-loop connection lets a SOC operator watching a camera feed escalate straight to a field response, cutting out the manual handoffs between monitoring and dispatch and giving Calidad a single auditable record of what happened and how it was handled.

Calidad is also finalizing a Command Center integration that will open up API access for deeper automation and further software connections.

AI video analytics

Scylla

For clients that need more than cameras and a monitoring center, Calidad layers in Scylla AI video analytics, which identifies threats such as weapons, fights or intrusions with up to 99% accuracy.

That accuracy is what makes automated dispatch possible. Once Scylla verifies a real threat, TrackTik Command Center can automatically deploy the nearest qualified officer, filtering out the false alarms that used to eat up staff time and letting Calidad guarantee a verified response rather than a guess.

Up to 99% accuracy identifying threats such as weapons, fights or intrusions.

The results

Less a single ROI figure, more a shift across the business

Asked to put a number on the return from TrackTik, Blake is upfront that the value shows up less as a single ROI figure and more as a shift across the entire business.

The TrackTik value has been operational visibility, accountability and efficiency, and really just a value add for our clients and for us.

Blake Smallie, CEO, Calidad Services

A single digital record

Every client moved off pen-and-paper daily activity reports and spreadsheet schedules onto a single digital record.

Clients who self-serve

Clients with board meetings or site reviews coming up pull their own incident data through the TrackTik client portal instead of waiting on a request, which Blake says has helped build trust.

Time back for the ops team

Because incident reporting, scheduling and billing all run through the same platform, the operations team spends less time reconciling data across systems and more time on the accounts themselves.

A new line of business

White-labeling virtual guarding for other security companies

Because Calidad already runs all four layers of security on one platform, the company has started white-labeling its virtual guarding for other security companies and running mobile surveillance units on their behalf, handling the monitoring and maintenance so those partners do not have to build it themselves.

Proof in the field

Two contract wins

Two contracts stand out to Blake as clear examples of the model at work, because the incident and cost data made the case for itself.

Contract win 01

Turning around a high-crime business district

A well-known three-mile business district in one of the highest-crime cities in the country had relied on a traditional patrol company for years, but incidents kept happening. Calidad pitched a hybrid approach: install cameras across the district, connect them through Immix, and pair that unified monitoring view with the onsite patrol officer.

After winning the contract the SOC was logging roughly 300 incidents a month, responding through loudspeaker dispersals and officer dispatches. Within 90 days of going live, incident volume dropped sharply, a trend visible directly in TrackTik incident analytics and one Calidad could show to city leaders and business owners as proof the new model was working.

Contract win 02

Cutting a shelter client security spend nearly in half

A large homeless shelter client was staffing 32 full-time security officers and had already installed 150 cameras that were sitting unused. Calidad rebuilt the account around a hybrid model built for that specific site: an on-site security operations center, virtual guarding, and Scylla AI analytics for face, gun and threat detection.

Every officer began logging incidents, tours and checkpoints in TrackTik, so the shift from officers to technology was fully documented rather than just a staffing decision. The result nearly cut the client security spend in half while improving coverage.

It has to make sense for where it goes. Not every place needs a hybrid approach, but I think it is definitely the future of our industry.

What is next

Fitting the technology to the client, not the other way around

Calidad continues to invest time and resources in R&D, exploring AI, automation and deeper integrations, including the upcoming Command Center API, as it works toward scaling across California and beyond.

Blake sees the long-term role of Calidad as a security partner backed by real technology, one that fits the technology to the client rather than the other way around.

TrackTik is what lets us pull all of this together. We want clients to look at Calidad and see a technology company, a security company, and a security partner at the end of the day.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Calidad Services, Inc. is a California-based security and technology company led by CEO Blake Smallie. It started as a physical security guard company and eight years later runs four business units: physical security officers, a security operations center offering remote guarding, a mobile surveillance unit, and a security systems installation and integration team. A 75-person team serves commercial properties, municipalities, construction sites, nonprofits and high-net-worth residential clients across California.

Calidad piloted TrackTik early on and has been running on it for about seven years. TrackTik is the company system of record and now supports incident reporting, scheduling, billing and invoicing, and client portal access.

A hybrid model combines people and technology in whatever proportion a specific site needs, rather than defaulting to one standard setup. For Calidad that can mean uniformed officers, cameras connected to a monitoring center, virtual guarding and AI video analytics in different combinations per client, with the incident data used to prove the mix is working.

Calidad connects TrackTik to Immix to bring alarms, video, access control and patrol activity into one command view instead of several disconnected systems. That closed-loop connection lets an operator watching a camera feed escalate straight to a field response, removing the manual handoff between monitoring and dispatch and leaving a single auditable record of what happened and how it was handled.

Scylla AI video analytics identifies threats such as weapons, fights or intrusions with up to 99% accuracy. That accuracy is what makes automated dispatch practical: once Scylla verifies a real threat, TrackTik Command Center can deploy the nearest qualified officer, filtering out the false alarms that previously consumed staff time.

Blake Smallie describes the return less as a single ROI figure and more as a shift across the business: every client moved off pen-and-paper reports and spreadsheet schedules onto one digital record, clients self-serve their own incident data through the client portal, and the operations team spends less time reconciling data across systems. In the field, one business district saw incident volume drop sharply within 90 days, and a shelter client security spend was cut nearly in half while coverage improved.
